hi

I'd like to create one of those disk-thingies so that i don't have to download updates every time I reinstall. I use 8.04 LTS and i've reinstalled a lot. Of course i've burned out all cd writers so i'll probably be updating from an image. Any pointers? I would like to do things other than look up info all the time which is what i've been doing! Oh and the info files are amazing! thanks plenty plenty for those

thanks

Yes, apt-on-cd is one way. On the other hand, if you reinstall a lot, use Partimage or Clonezilla to keep an image of the entire installation. That way, you'll never have to reinstall again, just restore the image, and the system is always uptodate.

Just out of interest, why do you re-install often, as it seems you do? Usually after install everything is OK and solvable without a re-install of the system.
