After often fighting with Windows at work, I find it so refreshing to go home, open the lid on my laptop, log on to Ubuntu Karmic, and just have fun, because it works!

The only time I have any problems with Ubuntu is when I start experimenting, but then the community comes to the rescue and I always find an answer.

God Bless All..

Two shamless cut n pastes, but I googled um, and they represent how I feel:

May the stars carry your sadness away,

May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,

May hope forever wipe away your tears,

And, above all, may silence make you strong.

--Chief Dan George

I Resign

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult.

I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities
of an 8-year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and
make ripples with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because
you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade
stand with my friends on a hot summer day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple.

When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables,
and nursery rhymes,

but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what
you didn't know and you didn't care.

All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should

make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair.

That everyone is honest and good.

I want to believe that anything is possible.

I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and
be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simple again.

I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news,

how to survive more days in the month than there is
money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip,

illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind
word, truth, justice, peace, dreams,

the imagination, mankind, and making angels
in the snow.

So...here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit
cards and all my responsibility.

I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to
catch me first, 'cause,

"Tag! You're it."

The high management at my company just walked in all departments of my company with little red hat flipping side by side singing we wish you a merry christmas (the hat not them) and distributed Candy.

We then proceeded to the rest area where they distributed a gift each randomly, such as mp3 players, an ipod, a really expensive gift voucher in a mall, a huge teddy bear etc...

It was a lot of fun.

I "celebrate" a lot, Christmas, birthday Dec 30, and hogmanay (New Year's) but the holidays aren't the fun they were when the boys were kids. I usually just stay up till midnight, unless I am too sleepy. BTW, I hit the big 70 this year.

I've made some mistakes lately so these are two quotes about making mistakes:

“Computers have enabled people to make more mistakes faster than almost any invention in history, with the possible exception of tequila and hand guns” - Mitch Ratcliffe.

“If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down.”- Mary Pickford

As for Christmas, George Bailey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwVTa31YyH0#t=6m5s) says it best!.

Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does.

but if you travel east enough, you get to 'the west', and visa versa, i don't know what bearing we had on anything tho.

I have liked this one for a long time. Reminds me that things may be "bad" now, but they can get better, or they can get worse. Either way, there is no point dwelling on it, just wait and see what comes your way and be as happy as you can be. You may die at any time, and you don't want your last day to be a bad one, so have a good day.

And though we pass them by today,
