I have predominantly seen two different types of Blog software used by users here:

1. Blogger

2. Wordpress

but what else is being used?...which do you prefer?

I have seen a few blogs on:

Drupal

Have only read about the:

Habari Project
http://habariproject.org/en/

...is anybody actually using Habari?

So what blog software do you use?...what do you prefer?

1. Blogger
2. Wordpress
3. Drupal
4. Habari
5. Other

I use Wordpress. I looked at Blogspot, Xanga and the other services, but I like Wordpress the most. I have a home built LAMP server running Ubuntu 9.10 that runs 24/7. It's so quiet that I can sleep with it on.

Wordpress for now, though I'm going to be giving Drupal a thorough looking over in the near future, so my opinion may change.

I use both blogger and wordpress, I prefer blogger.

I've used Drupal in the past, and have never tried Habari.

I'm using blogger for my Ubuntu blog (http://ubuntu-stoke.blogspot.com/) and am pretty happy with it. Ashiamed to admit it, but the biggest thing in my selecting it was knowing that it was already part of the Google empire, therefor very likely to scale well if I did get a ton of hits some day and also integrated with all my other googleness.

I would go home-made but life is to short. No one alone will write a better blogging system than Wordpress.

I'll probably re-do the skin/template at some point.

I was all set to download the Wordpress blogging software when I found that it doesn't work on the free accounts. You have to buy a domain name or set up a paid account to use blogging software? Oh well.

I still like Wordpress, and I just use the ScribeFire extension for Firefox to post to it most of the time.

?

Well, yeah. You host it on your own terms, free of intrusion. That's why the software exists.
