KDE problems

I installed KDE desktop. At start-up, it shows me Kubuntu boot, then Ubuntu. When it comes time to log in, it's a Kubuntu screen (I think). I am not able to chose a session. Once I log in, it's Ubuntu. Is there a way to make it like previous versions, where you can chose to load KDE or Gnome.
