A One CD install ala Ubuntu?
http://archives.mandrivalinux.com/cooker/2006-02/msg02455.php
Available on the mirrors, a beta version of a new live CD based on Mandriva Linux 2006. This live CD is a complete Mandriva Linux system, which you can use directly from the CD or install on your hard drive. It includes OpenOffice.org, KDE, Firefox, GIMP, Amarok... You are welcome to test, especially the installation wizard. Please report the problems on Bugzilla for the distribution Mandriva Linux One 2006.0. You only need one CD, just pick the one depending of you language.
Hmmmmm....this coinciding with the CEO of Mandriva making public statements about the continuity of Ubuntu and its community....I find relatively interesting. Has anyone else had interactions with Mandriva or its developers on this kind of level?
