Hello all,

First off thank you all for your help. Second, I will apologize for any comments that I make that are beyond noob.

Here's the situation that brought me here; I have a PC that over the past year has been built, rebuilt, and done again. This was due to hard drive failures, Vista installs gone bad and many other things so here I am. Now with a new plan and never having used a Linux install in years I am really overwhelmed.

Here's the plan; Setup hardware Raid 5 (or 0+1 if you can show me how) over four 1Tb WD Caviar Green drives. On a separate 1Tb Seagate Barracuda outside the array to install Ubuntu Desktop. After ALL this is accomplished then I will run VMWare Server II where the bulk of my actual development/programming, etc will be done.

My question is this... I can't find a Raid control for Ubuntu associated to my MB, and should I look into the option of installing Raid 0+1 over 5? If so, how in the world do I go about this. Thanks all! PC specs are below...
