I installed Ubuntu Studio for the AMD processor (the stable version). When it boots it loads a command line looking thingy and then asks for user name and password, then it asks for code like DOS or something It acts like there is no graphic interface to it I am not a gifted computer person how do i get it to boot

this is the first time i have installed ubuntu anything and when it boots it goes through checks and asks for login name and password and then a line comes up that says "patrick@ubuntu:~$" with a blinking cursor at the end.

I tried the sudo ubuntustudio-desktop think but it said command is not found.

o whoops, should have caught his mistake earlier.

his command should have been:

sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-desktop

and, this may sound silly... did you intend to download and install ubuntu studio edition, but end up downloading ubuntu server edition? it's default enviornment is the command line that you describe...
