Difference CD and DVD ISO

A simple question here..
What is the difference of CD iso and DVD iso files?

What is contained in DVD iso that is not in the CD iso and under what condition one should choose which iso to download and install?

The reason for a DVD iso is that there is not enough space on a CD for that particular image. Functionally there is no difference.
