The Internet is boring!...except here.

Honestly, the Internet is boring overall, Facebook, twitter and all the social networking sites are all god awful boring! beyond Hulu and this forum the Internet seems dead and boring!

Is there anything exciting and new on the Internet anymore or we just lapsing into the dark ages again? when will there be a new renaissance for the Internet?

When will something new and exciting happen?

Google Wave was disappointing and boring...it's all dead and boring!

perhaps begin to use the information on the internet on something else than the internet.

that is. make a tree house with info from the internet.
or build an eletronic car that can drive it self around your house without bumping into anything.

When you find something boring, thats a good sign that you should learn something new or find a new hobby.

Great idea...this is actually what I do most with the Internet. Like find tasty new recipes and cook them.

...but this isn't a personal thread about myself but more of an observation of where the Internet is now. Perhaps it always has been boring?

Well yes, actually, but it is a secret.

If you look hard enough, & long enough, you just might prove to your self that it exists.

Again...think back to your Philosophy 101 class; your making a logical fallacy submitting an argument by attacking the speaker has no legitimacy what so ever.

Now beyond personal attacks, does anybody have anything new and exciting to share what they have found on the Internet recently?

EDIT: reading back on this my response comes across a bit too harsh...perhaps utilizing my time more effectively is in order for this Winter break...like taking the time to do Post Production Processing for the 2 most recent Photo Shoots that I have done, and getting a hold of the new model for the next Photo Shoot.

ahhh an excellent and intelligent response!!!

If I were to be able to prove that it exist, then I might be able to prove that we exist.

Social networking sites are only as boring or interesting as the people you follow...you may be hitting the nail on the head, the people I know are pretty boring! There are only so many wild, crazy drunken college house parties with unbearably cute girls that want to freak you until that just becomes old and boring too.

Google wave has promise as a tool for sure. Also remember its still in development. ^,^ Additionally remember that the Internet was meant for sharing information and not much more. The fun parts are just a side effect. ^.^

The internet isn't supposed to be exciting. It's a tool for such things as online banking, paying bills, research for term papers.

If you want exciting, get out your Wii or Xbox 360.

Well, it wasn't a personal attack and I'm not debating anything... I just think that internet surfing does get boring once in a while and usually when something you enjoy doing gets boring, then a good idea is to find something new to do.

Or, what I do sometimes to kill time is reading articles on wikipedia. Often I view howstuffworks.com. or I just get off the net and read a book.

but bills are so exciting ;)

seriously tho, i know what the op means, i don't think its so much boring, just overload, you can get as much as you want, when you want, on demand 24hrs a day. Sweets are nice, but if you lived in a sweet shop and had 24/7 access to free sweeties then you would soon get bored of them.

Imagine watching your version of Paradise even that becomes hell (I think there was a Twilight Zone episode that depicted this?)

Objectively, nothing is either boring or interesting. It is a subjective and personal statement to claim these properties about something. It means that you desire to do something different with your time. So, think of something besides the things that you normally do on the internet and go do it.

Thank you, though. You have made me consider this for myself and I will now go play some guitar. :guitar:

Yes. There is kevin1gamer who keeps making spam threads linking to his videos. Not just that, but he advertises in OTHER forums too.

If you think it's boring, fix it.
Get a domain, learn some HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, and you are ready to make your own exciting site.

I felt that my sites weren't allowing me to waste enough time anymore, and joined reddit, recently.

Other things to do:
Lambda the Ultimate
Play browser games
Learn Emacs

If you're bored with the Internet, turn off your computer and go do something else.

Don't get defensive about it, just log off.

Your right. How many hours have we wasted looking at crap?
The internet is a fantastic tool, but I agree it is boring apart from ubuntuforums of course.

I'm turning away from the internet just to try and learn how to get a life away from the Internet and gadgets because they consume my life. I recently started going for walks in the evening, instead of wasting my time online.

Question I ask myself is what am I actually achieving when I go online, is it productive? and am I enjoying it. My answers to this at the moment are NO and NO so therefore no point going online.

About 9 months ago, I felt the same way. I started looking around for something "new" to do with my computer. That's when I discovered Linux and Ubuntu.

Now I spend my time customizing and tweaking things until I break my system. Then I reinstall and start again. What fun!!:)

Since you are already here, I'm afraid I have no advice to offer you. :(
