USB Install

I am a bit of a Linux noob here(never used it :redface: ), and I am wondering if I can install ubuntu to a USB flash drive and use it to boot ubuntu separately from my normal HD. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.7 and I want to test out ubuntu without overwriting my current OS... I have a 4GB flash drive... Is that large enough, and will what I am wanting to do actually work?

yes, you can install ubuntu to usb flash drive.
4gb flash drive will be fine.
