Um errr, no offense intended but:

1 wheel = unicycle (uni = one, cycle refers to the shape of the wheel)
2 wheels = bicycle (bi = two)
3 wheels = tricycle (tri = three)
4 wheels = quadracycle (quad = foud)

Get the picture? To call anything which doesn't have two wheels a bicycle (or "bike" for short) is almost a contradiction in terms......


By the way, I don't suffer from insanity, I quite enjoy it! :)

Good point. I tend to get irritated when I hear of "quad bike" accidents on the TV news, but haven't been able to think of anything better to call them that is as short to say.
