Try as I may, I cannot get Ubuntu installed on my new notebook.

Here are the specs.

The only way I can get Karmic installed, is if I install Intrepid, and upgrade with a wired connection. I cannot get the video drivers working, nor can I get the wireless drivers working.

Secondly is the Video Drivers. ATI has always sucked for Linux... But I heard they released new Catalyst Drivers... Where they are, I'll never know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are in the mood for throwing Distro's till one sticks may I suggest PCLinuxOS, it's an odd distro maintained by a small group. As such it can be a little querky but that are a nice bunch. It has the habit of running on gear that other distros wont touch.

On 9.10 you can use video driver handling package called EnvyNG. It downloads the correct ATI driver on its own. For the wireless card it might be a bit trickier, but not unsolvable.
I think EnvyNG works on previous version too but not sure how far back it goes.

I used Envyng on Hardy 8.04 but it was not in the repositories. Had to go here (http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html) to download it.
