Hi
I am planning to buy a good mouse for my laptop and I am looking for the wireless options.

So far I found that Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse is a good option.

- What I am looking to know is: is it the ultimate option for something around 40USD?
- does it work perfectly well in Ubuntu?

- Do I have other good choices for the same price?

Thanks,

I got that one plugged into my HP laptop with Ubuntu 9.10 64bit and it works as a charm :) LOVE IT

Note: No changes or drivers installation required. Works out of the box.

Mine is wireless but it includes a cord (wrapped up inside the mouse, under the cover) which plugs into the USB transmitter to make it a wired mouse if need-be.

Really handy if I'm away from home and the "AAA" batteries start to die!

Try to get a bluetooth mouse so you don't have to have an annoying dongle hanging out of your usb port.

Thank you all for the replys.
Is there any drawback associated with bluetooth mouses?

Thanks.

I use a Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse that works great with my laptop and is very Ubuntu friendly.

Logitech also has other less expensive mice that are wireless that you might like also.

The Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX is a good one. It's one of Logitech's newer models, I believe. I have one and really like it. Work's great on Ubuntu 9.10. Kind of expensive though.

I may be in luck and get a bluetooth adapter for my laptop. I kinda hope so, so I don't have to use up one of my 2 USB ports.

Well, you have to change the battery on a wireless mouse, too. ;)

The only possible downside is the extra power it uses when your bluetooth radio is turned on. But it may not use any more power than what the wireless dongle uses.

I noticed a few people suggested the Logitech VX nano. I just bought one and can not get it to work. I tried it on Ubuntu 8.04, 9.10 and 9.10 UNR...I get nothing. I actually thought the mouse was bad until I finally tested it on an XP machine and it didn't work in XP until I installed the Logitech software... Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Use/create keyboard short cuts instead.
