Hi everyone,
I am new to these forums. I have been having a heck of a time trying to find a solution to my problem.
I had been running Windows on my Acer Travelmate 8000 since forever and decided to give ubuntu a try. I can run off the LiveCD (using acpi=off, noapic, nolapic options) and everything i have tried works, the system has never hung, not even once...
I installed Ubuntu onto the hard drive and not the system hangs immediately after the desktop environment loads... Similar to problems i have seen described in other posts. e.g. after clicking or movings the cursor over an icon, everything locks up.
The strange thing is that it works fine from the CD but when i boot from the hard drive it gives me problems.
Any ideas?
