Have you seen this (http://news.slashdot.org/story/09/12/14/1847256/Microsoft-Fined-In-India-For-Using-Money-Power-Against-Pirates?art_pos=1)? Apparently a judge in India has rapped Microsoft's knuckles over the corporation's attempt to use its financial might to harass defendants.

It would be nice if this caught on in other countries. In some places, the record industry extorts money out of alleged file sharers because said file sharers can't afford to contest a claim in court. Unfortunately, I can't see a UK judge doing this. Judges, like the governments they work for, tend to be very much in love with entertainment industry bigwigs.

go india!!!

i love it, especially this part:

But the court told Microsoft if it wanted the cases to be heard here, it would have to deposit a sum of Rs 200,000 per case - as a cost security.

The amount will be kept with the registrar general of the Delhi High Court till the final disposal of the four cases. It will be given to the defendants if the cases are found to be false.
