Hi and help please.
First, I'm quite new to this world of ubuntu, linux.
I have success with installing java, netbeans, eclipse, apache2, php5, mysql, all working to the extent I know how to use them.
I have been working a couple weeks just trying to get mysql-connector-java

Its not in Synaptic package manager. I have tried to add to the "Software Sources" the mysql site but don't know where to find the APT address.

I can certainly download mysql-connector-java and extract it. But that does not install it.

Thanks

You'll be heading over to the dev area of MySQL. http://dev.mysql.com/usingmysql/java/

I've done the Java server stuff for the likes of android fone installations and have a MySQL Server, but was not even aware of that side of MySQL -- It never ceases to amaze me what the devs get upto - a lot like here on Ubuntu !!!

That dev page should get you access to what you are seeking to do - don't forget on the dev area - you are encuraged to get a login and contribute :-)

Phill.

Thanks Phill

I misunderstood the "installation" part.
I thought it was about installing any software.

I appreciate your guidance.

As I said, I was unaware of that sort of tie up. You'd be best served either (or both) over at http://forums.mysql.com/list.php?39 and/or http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39

The 1st link I sent should be a useful resource, the forum for mysql/java may also be of help. And, of course, for specific Ubuntu stuff- the programmers section, is a gr8 place to head, also.

Have fun !!

Phill.
