If i encrypt /home from the graphical installer what files would i backup say, to a unsecured but acceptable FAT32 thumbdrive, so i would definitely be able to reinstall the os to swap (formated), / (formated), *and (unformated, encrypted)* /home keeping all my /home data content and how would i go about reinstalling it so that i can keep my encrypted /home data ?

thank you

I believe that in Karmic the data necessary to preserve a former /home directories data is contained in a /home/.ecryptfs directory whereas in Jaunty there was some data in the /var/ tree that was required for backup, but didn't allow for easy reinstallation with Karmic.
