at uni we had to use linux machines, and i was addicted to the kate editor. At work we normally use macs due to adobe software not running on linux. Is there a way, to bring kate editor into a mac environment? both are unix systems right?

kate has so much more features than textmate or bbedit. I just want my cute little favourite editor back. any help would be very much be appreciated.

i got to somwhere atleast by going to http://mac.kde.org/?id=build

i tried "sudo port install kate" but it said package not found. "sudo port install" is like apt-get equivalent of mac. would anyone know the proper package name for the kate editor?
