Error in Ubuntu 9.10 iso?

I've recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Dell laptop and it seems to work fine. However, I thought I'd upgrade to 9.10 so downloaded the iso and burnt to CD but when I ran the pre-instal CD check it found an error in 1 file - also the CD seems to run incredibly noisily in the drive! I did a checksum on the downloaded iso and got 2492899537 723488768 - does anybody know if this is correct? - should I re-run the download or re-burn the CD? Also, reading other posts I get the impression that there are quite a lot of problems with 9.10, so should I just stick with 9.04?

you could try burning the cd at a slower speed.

in my opinion, stay with 9.04 as 10.04 which is a LTS version will be available in just 5 months
