Not able to install 9.10
Hi All,

I have downloaded ubuntu 9.10 amd64 version iso and write it in a CD successfully. I have also tested the CD for its content. All seems perfect. But when I try to install, It first prompts me the language. I have selected "English" after sometime "ubuntu" logo blinks in pure white and at last multi colour vertical lines appears on the screen, after that I can't do anything apart from reboot my system.

But I have Ubuntu 8.04 version. It runs successfully.

My system specification:

Mother board: ASUS M2N68-CM
Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) 7750 Dual-core
Primary OS: Windows XP Professional

Srikrishnan

Hmm- you got enough RAM and Nvidia usually plays nicely with Linux.

I would suggest try installing via safe graphics mode on the Live CD. At the boot screen (see pic below) hit F4 and select safe graphics mode.
Here is a link (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions) to read about that and other options to trysuch as noapic, etc.

If all else fails you can try the alternate text based installer. Get it here (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate).
