This is an odd problem. About three times in the past month my computer has suddenly frozen. The cursor moves but that is about it. The last time it froze as I was closing an application. I have a burn graphic that runs when an application closes. It stopped in the middle of that so there were relics of the burning graphic frozen on the screen. The mouse moves but clicking does nothing. The keyboard does nothing.

I hit the reset button. The computer reboots and says that my /home has failed to mount. I wait for a little bit and it then starts normally. My /home is on a separate partition and separate hdd from the root drive.

When I shut my computer down normally, a box has been momentarily appearing in the lower center of the screen. The box is there much less than 1 second before the screen goes blank so I am not able to read it. But I do see the word Compiz. Any ideas?
