Hi, I am new here. Hopefully this is the right forum to post this in. I have a question.

I got recommended to Ubuntu by a friend this morning. I decided to check it out. (Please mind that I'm a complete newbie on computers and the sort) I downloaded the .ISO file, and burned the image to a blank CD. I used the program "Infra Recorder" to burn the file, if that would make a difference. When the CD was burned I inserted the CD into my laptop, and shut it down. However, when I started it back up, it booted as if no CD was in there at all. If this helps - the laptop I'm trying to install Ubuntu on is an Acer Aspire 5520 with Windows Vista Home Premium. The disc I am using is an "imation" CD-R with 700MB space.

Do you have your laptop BIOS setup to try and boot from CD?
