What controls the scheduling of video resources? Because on my laptop it sucks, I know glxgears isn't a real benchmark but if I run >2 of them only 2 get decent FPS while the rest struggle for scraps, what's annoying is that looking at the total FPS if it was shared evenly between them the FPS would still be reasonable (i.e anything over 100 looks the same to me), but instead.
Is this the drivers fault (radeon), the windowmanagers (kwin + compositing), the kernels (linux, well duh), the hardware (some crappy inbuild card) or a combination of the above? And Is there a good guide for newbies to understand?
