I need an app..

So I need that does the following
Fetches selected mailing lists and displays them in a nice tabbed window. It should also download updates on a regular basis.
I don't want to fill my e-mail with mailing lists, so I need a program that makes a local copy and makes it easy to view them

Any suggestions ?

Latest beta of Thunderbird 3 afaik supports tabbed windows, as for functionality search for such an extension for Thunderbird.
