Heres my situation. When I run the 9.10 CD that I burned for installation, everything starts to go fine. I go to the boot menu and everything and I click Install Ubuntu (Also, if I click the Demo button, it does the same) Once I click Install(or demo), the installation will go to a black screen and do nothing at all besides have a blinking underscore cursor (like Windows CMD). I've tried booting the ISO in a Virtual system and it boots up fine in there. My friend (who I burned his CD from the same ISO) can get to the installation part just fine (he can't figure out how to partition but I digress) So I know for sure that the ISO is fine. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I've also tried booting 9.04 with the same results.

Could be the DVD/CD drive. You could try making a USB boot image and installing from that.

When you boot the CD and you get to the menu hit F4 and select safe graphics mode. See here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions) for info.

If that does not work try using the alternate text based installer here (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate).

I've used both of my CD/DVD drives to boot up each time. I've also successfully used them in the past to boot things so I'm almost sure it's not the drive.

I've tried safe graphics mode with the same results, blinking cursor. I believe this time the cursor was blinking a bit faster but I doubt that has anything to do with it.

I've also tried Wubi in the past but I'm trying it again. I doubt it will work this time, but I did just reformat my drive so that might have something to do with it.

try the alternate text based installer. It usually works when the Live Cd does not.

Which file is that? I'm new to Ubuntu and a bit tired right now. Would that be the desktop img file?

Nevermind, I've decided to install 9.10 on my laptop which sucessfully worked. I'm now happily running Karmic Koala on my laptop. Now off to get used to possibly my new favorite operating system. Thanks.

(I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing atm xD)
