so i dont really know much about my computer, its a sony vaio with a 2.4ghz processor 513mb of ram and an ati radeon 9200 graphics card.
when i try to install ubuntu i get through the first 6 steps but when it starts to install, it gets to about 24-27% when it says copying files, and it freezes. the window sometimes goes away completely so all i can see is the background, or the window just goes blank (no loading bar or the slides below it).
i was origionely trying to install kubuntu and had this problem (but with a completely blank screen) so i tried ubuntu and am still having the problem. any ideas? like a said im no computer guru, i just know enough to get me by (most the time).

also, i forgot to mention, that using the live cd it works fine. its only when i try to install it to my hard drive that it freezes up.

so, any ideas how to make it work? maybe a different distro or something? i wanted ubuntu because of how user friendly its supposed to be though.
