Hello,

In my old days under Windows I always used Irfanview as image viewer. Since I really like this program I thought that under Ubuntu there must be a similar program? Does anyone know if there is a image viewer similar to Irfanview? Many thanks!

You can install IrfanView under Wine. Works well.

I know that tric, but I want to get rid off all Windows programs as much as possible.

Hi,

I don't think there is a good replacement for IrfanView. What that guy Irfan created is just a unique piece of software.

Other programs can do parts of what IrfanView does, but IrfanView is unsurpassed as the Swiss army knife of image viewers/editors.

Two alternatives that I tried are digiKam (it's a KDE application, but I installed it in Gnome and it works well) and gThumb. Both are certainly good software, but again, not quite like IV.

By the way, what's wrong with running IV under Wine? Is it a matter of principle for you? Then be advised that, as they say, the exception proves the rule! ;)
