Was wondering if anyone could suggest any help - have upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 using the alternate cd (as my ubuntu computer doesn't have a working internet connection at present); however, on first reboot, I get to the point just before entering my username, but then the computer freezes (the so-called 'white screen of death'?).
I can use the ctr + alt + F1 command but I'm not what to sure what to do after that.
If it can't be fixed, I'd be happy to 'de-upgrade' back to 8.04, or to upgrade further to 9.04, but again I don't know how to go about that either without loosing all my data... ( as can be gathered my cup-count of ubuntu is still quite low!)
Any help/pointers would be really appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
