View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu kernel

Hi, greatings to all people on forum.
I'm new here and also as linux user. I'm student of Computer science , on my final year an ther is one class called programing on unix platforms.
I'have to make a seminar about compiling ubuntu kernel. As I said , I'dont know anything about that and I would apreciate any help at all.
Can someone sugest me maybe tutorial how to solve my problem or help me with some hints ?

Sorry about my english, I'm from Croatia and I speak very well but grammar and writing english is not my stronger side.

ubuntu kernel? i thought it was linux...i am interested in taking you course though

Ok, can you first explain why to compile a kernel.
Yes it's the newest ubuntu kernel.

i really don't know.
all i know is that the kernel is not ubuntu. but the kernel is linux. ubuntu doesn't have it's own kernel but is a linux derivative

I'm installing now new ubuntu version on my wmware virtual machine.

Sorry, you are right, it is a linux kernel . What i ment is that i need to do it in ubuntu version of linux.

So what is by Your opinion firs thing I have to do to start compile kernel?
