lablels for "applications" etc. too dark

I like the xfce desktop but I find the labels for the task bars and for firefox hard to see. It's very hard to find, eg, "tools" or the connecton icon. How do I lighten them up, so that I can see them easily?

Try setting a different wallpaper with a lighter background color. I think this should solve your problem much more easily than asking on a forum, or, God-forbid, trying to figure it out on your own.
