Cleaning the heat sink did wonders! And putting a desk fan to blow air into the side panel had to help too! No more crashes! However, I'm still experiencing the occasional system freeze about 45 - 60 min. into each session. It happens at different points also, today I was installing updates; yesterday, using the browser on the net. There's no particular program that it seems partial to either. Anyone with any ideas?
Sys specs: eMachines W2646, Celeron 2.6Ghz, 768 MB memory

Maybe you need to put in more cooling options. This still looks like a hardware related issue. If you say it consistently happens after 45 minutes to an hour, I would definitely blame the hardware.
