white screen after login and backup data

Hi. First, sorry for my English. I am not very good on it.

Today I install upgrades on ubuntu. I think a kernel update was performed.

Now, after I login I get a white screen.

I have tried to run ubuntu with older kernel versions. But I get a white screen also.

I can not find a way to correct it. So I am thinking install ubuntu again.

But how can I backup my data?

I have other disk to copy my data into. But I have problems with the protect data. If I try to open or copy it says the access is denied.

Can any one help me?

I did not tell. The owner of protected data is 1000, the group is also 1000. I do not know what is 1000.
