I'm taking algebra 1, but cant figure out this problem. I need to solve for x in the following:
(16/9*X)^2+x^2=299.29

I'm taking algebra 1, but cant figure out this problem. I need to solve for x in the following:
(16/9*X)^2+x^2=299.29

First use that (ab)^2 = a^2 * b^2

(16/9 * x)^2 is thus (16/9)^2 * x^2. After this you can solve for x

(16/9*X)^2+x^2=299.29 <-> (16/9)^2*x^2 + x^2 = 299.29 <-> x^2 * ((16/9)^2+1)=299.29 <-> x^2 = 299.29 / ((16/9)^2+1) <-> x = +- sqrt(299.29 / ((16/9)^2+1))

Thanks, and I only do homework during study hall. I was figuring out a screens dimensions from it's diagonal and aspect ratio.
