Ok, so getting to the point quickly, will this (http://cgi.ebay.ie/Intel-Pentium-4-HT-3-0-GHz-512-800-Socket-478-SL6WK_W0QQitemZ320424998646QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_M otherboards_CPUs?hash=item4a9ad176f6) CPU work in this motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=1399&ProductName=GA-8SIMLH)?

Hyperthreading is having one physical core, with two virtual cores right? Will it give much more power over the 2.4Ghz Celeron (currently OCd to 3Ghz) thats in the computer at the moment?

Thanks for the help guys, its nice to have people more experienced in this stuff to ask for advice :)

Why not go for something a bit newer? You'd get much more power out of something dual/tri core than a P4 with HT.

Pentium 4 hyperthreading makes the CPU run very hot when it's busy. I would recomend getting something a little newer too, a dual core may cost a bit more but will run colder and quieter.

It was really one of those spur of the moment things, seeing as it was so cheap, I thought it would be a good upgrade for a board I have lying around, within my price range, even including a nice cooler. My worry is though, the mobo only supports upto PC-2700 DDR RAM (333Mhz). That'll probably be a bottleneck on it?
