I am trying to install samba.
If I use sudo apt-get install samba, it stalls after 2% or so.
If I use synaptic, it seems to get further but when I click on
the "show for individual files" doo-dad the status is "failed" for most of the items listed.
I've tried a half dozen different mirrors.
Pinged ubuntu.com, no problem.
This box is plugged into a switch with the cable modem and two ******* boxes which have no downloading issues.
I've tried a different patch cord.
I've tried downloading other files (not samba related) inside of
Firefox, and they freeze up also.
System is a Pentium 4 2.80ghz with 1 meg of memory, high speed cable.
Anybody got any suggestions?
