install this gnome-mplayer and you can now view these videos in the browser

hunt for alien earths will now play instead of endlessly cache

http://feeds.pbs.org/pbs/wgbh/nova-video/

these cnn sites will play

http://rss.cnn.com/services/podcasting/studentnews/rss.xml/
http://rss.cnn.com/services/podcasting/amanpour_video/rss/?format=xml

this is the bug report. the [player will still cache the whole file but then it plays where as before it would cache and never play.

Thanks. But you'd probably help more folks with this issue if you post it in Multimedia & Video (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=334)

ok, i posted it there too.
I still would like to see it improved, instead of waiting to play until fully cached and simply cache the minimal amount and then play while it is downloading.
the files that would have normally started playing will still start quickly
it had something to do with segmented video files??
