Simply Ubuntu

Was up all night last night creating an install log with screen shots so that i can make an install howto for my brothers who both want Ubuntu.

Just wanted to tell everyone that i am so happy with ubuntu 9.10 (even tho i had to install 9.04 first so that i could get the mscorefonts to install).
That happy infact that i have now completely wiped all traces of anything microsoft from my pc.
It's funny because i spent two years in college doing nothing but work with and learn how to troubleshoot and operate microsoft operating systems and programs. Now officially an MCDST and MCP because of it lol.
Oh well shouldn't hurt having extra qualifications. Next is UCP :D

Anyone else recently just took the dive to be completely Ubuntu?

Hell no, I'd never put ubuntu on my servers, netbooks and laptop, there are specialised GNU/Linux distributions for that. Ubuntu is OK for a workstation that needs to just work without fiddling around with it, but that's about all utility it has.

I'd like to disagree. Ubuntu is good as a server too, i currently have my server running 8.10 server edition and i have had no problems with it at all.
My laptop has ubuntu on it too, not got a netbook to justify using the NBR. Works great on any platform i say.

But as always, each person is entitled to their own opinions and i'm sure you have good reasons for yours.

Hell yes, Ive had Ubuntu on my laptop since 8.10 and have never had any issues.

The easiest way is putting in the CD with Windows running and install it with Wubi, the so called "Inside Windows". 2 clicks and 20 minutes later, you're running Ubuntu.

But the best way is to insert the CD and reboot, installing from there, setting up a normal dual boot, which is not hard to do.
