Hello Ubuntu community! Do you want to show off your nicely modded Ubuntu Distro? Or are you tired of seeing other peoples pimped out desktops and want to know how they got it that way? Well this is the thread for that.

Rules are:
1) Feel free to post your post a screenshot of your desktop (optionally with a few windows open) that showcases your customizations
2) Post the modifications that are actually visible in your picture and optionally, where to get these modifications from.
3) Optionally post a description of what the mods do, and what your experience is with them.
4) Try to keep the filesize of any images you post directly on the forums to a reasonable level (ie: under 120k if possible)

I'm a utilitarian, so I haven't applied very much eyecandy because things like window transparancy are useless to me while others get in the way. So a lot of my desktop is fairly basic.

Using the following modifications:
Theme: Clearlooks2-Squared window border / Lighthouse Controls (http://www.gnome-look.org)
Icons: Tango (http://www.gnome-look.org)

Easy Mods: 50% transparency white taskbar at the top.
Panel Applets: 'Terminal', 'Run Application', and 'Weather Report' (all stock)
GDesklets: Sidecandy Weather, Sidecandy RSS (all stock)

READ THE PURPOSE OF THIS TOPIC

It is quite different than the stickied one. In other words, it exists for a *reason*. In the stickied topic, maybe one person out of five has posted the modifications they have made. I have often looked at people's desktops and wondered 'how did they do that'? I would rather not have to ask every single one.

No need to yell. But I have posted those mods there also.

Not good enough. Please use the link posted above for desktop snaps. Yacking about mods isn't a big enough change to warrent a new topic.
In general speaking terms, that's pretty much covered under post your desktop purpose.

Yacking about mods isnt a good enough reason to warrent replacing the topics perhaps, but you are nobody but just some guy with an opinion to say what topics are worth posting in the first place. There are dozens of less purposeful posts on these forums, but you don't see very many people complaining about those.

I do not intend to 'dethrone' it from the sticky position if that's what you are worried about.

(And mstlyevil, it was meant for emphasis, not for disrespect)

Lets cut the crap please. You can PM me if you have any issues with me creating this thread. As the original poster, I request that it not be cluttered up with too much discussion.

Uhhh - Can't the stickied thread be edited to request that people share what they did to mod their desktop?
I actually think it's a good idea as sometimes these destops make me droooool!:-D

We have already a show off your desktop thread which are sticked. If people want to know what kind of eye-candy applications/tweaks they are using there are plenty of oppotunities to ask in the thread/PM the person or post the question in the Gallery.

Thanks.
