Joshua Schachter describes a technique he uses on his Mac to speed up videos without increasing their pitch. Does anyone know of tools that allow one to do this on Ubuntu? Command-line tools are OK.

Thanks, I looked at VLC again and found the option (in the Playback menu). It's too bad they don't allow for more granularity and adjustments via keyboard shortcuts. Maybe I can add that.
