A quick Google search would tell you that HP is one of the best brands. Most of their printers work well and have open source drivers.

What kind of printer are you looking for?

I have an HP Deskjet 6980 with WiFi capability, and it works really well

Honestly I'm not sure I need a scanner or copier with it, so one that doesnt use a ton of ink and one that is reasonible in price and can detect driver updates without alot of hassle. (the 1st two would be nice options but it is not like I need them)

Definitely H.P. I have the Deskjet F4280 "all in one" and all the functions work perfectly. All I had to do was plug it in. (And chuck the CD it came with in the bin. :p )

I would check here (http:///www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi) to see how well any printers you have in mind are supported.

Pretty much anything consumer HP. I have also had a bit of luck with Xerox printers.

I have tried 3 low-end HP printers on Ubuntu (HP 3740, D1400, D2360). All of them work great except the printing speed is a bit slower than in XP.

Another one for HP I have used several and never had any issues. I Would always buy HP as I use Linux 100% of the time. I am windows free.

HP take seriously when work on driver for Linux. (m1120 mfp: scanner+laser printer).

Ubuntu (karmic): plug > detect > download lastest driver > install > ready to print.

I had only click "Yes" and hit enter.

Samsung....

Suprising how many recommended HP... The one company I still want to boycott, because they treat paying customers badly
