View Full Version : [ubuntu] brightness control with twinview display

hello all,

after much futzing about, and entirely thanks to these forums, i have finally got my toshiba laptop with nvidia graphics running in twinview with an external display (projector) for the first time in the year that i've been 100% ubuntu. the one catch: when i've booted with the projector connected, the brightness control applet no longer works, and the brightness, for both the laptop screen and the projector, is stuck on the minimum setting. if i boot without the projector then everything works fine and the brightness defaults back to full. any thoughts on how i can regain control over my display brightness, or at least get it to default to full? i'm running karmic on a toshiba satellite laptop - the fnF6 + fnF7 controls for brightness haven't worked since intrepid, but the panel applet has always functioned for me...

thanks,
patrick
