After upgrading to 9.10 my wireless Atheros adapter did not work it was fine under 9.04. After following all the threads here and installing windows drivers I am back to ath5k and my wireless works but so slowly it's useless. I have the time to mess about but for anyone who has to use this OS seriously it's a real problem and it's a shame just when Linux was starting to make an impression on Windows. I will plod on and eventually someone will find a solution which I can use to fix my machine. I notice from the poll that about 37% have serious problems and that's too high.

Maybe it's something due to the upgrade process, I really wouldn't know.
What I can tell you is that on my netbook I am using desktop 32bit 9.10. It was a clean install, in fact I haven't used ubuntu before 9.10. The integrated wi-fi in the netbook is reported as ath5k and it worked straight away without any glitch, or adding drivers, etc. Literary I didn't even have to touch it.
