I can't install Ubuntu onto my nice new partition because when I insert the boot cd to install the screens pixels tear sideways horizontally making it completely unreadable and there for impossible to install Ubuntu. I'm using an nVidia Geforce 9300M GS. I can install ubuntu via wubi onto my Windows 7 partition but when i boot that up the screen tearing occurs again, I spent almost half an hour fumbling though the system until I managed to find the display drivers download section. This is making it very difficult to install Ubuntu onto my new partition because I can't see which partition I am selecting and so could easily wipe off my Windows 7.

You can use a basic text install to put ubuntu from here --> http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors

you may also want to have read thru' this section on 'gotchas' for vid drivers --> http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1305459
And this one, for your vid-card (I think) --> http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=841457

Phill.

when you boot the Live CD hit F4 at the menu and choose safe graphics mode. See here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions) for more info.
