This afternoon when I logged in I found that the top panel was blank.
I ran gnome-panel from a terminal and it said:
Cannot register the panel shell: there is already one running.
I had to run "gnome-panel --replace" to get one to run.
Any ideas on what might cause this? It didn't happen again the second time I logged in and I didn't install or configure anything for the past two days.
