National Geographic has posted a ton of wallpapers from their international photo contest. Go here (http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/photo-contest/2009-wallpaper) for the 2009 wallpapers, here (http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/photo-contest/wallpaper) for 2008.
You can only download one at a time from their flash photo viewer or you can go here (http://www.webupd8.org/2009/11/automatically-download-all-wallpapers.html) to download a couple bash scripts that will download all of them. One script for 2008, another for 2009.
There are a lot of excellent pictures. The 2008 pictures are available in 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 960 resolution. The 2009 are only available in 1600 x 1200.
