What gets me is that people willing hand over money for this. At least I am not out of pocket for my buggy and crashy operating system. (This is a joke just to save the sense of humor police any undue stress):D

The firm reports that the problem affects editions of Windows 7, Vista, XP, NT, and Windows 2000.

...Win2k has been around for a decade...

something fishy is going on here.

Probably due to the endless under the bonnet work-a-rounds in 7.

unlucky for some.

Given that Prevx is giving out workarounds to its customers for this issue, this looks like a software problem, rather than a Windows problem.

Flash keeps on crashing on my ubuntu x64. I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling it to work. It gives me the white screen of death.

But you pay to get the problems, that's the meaning of the word 'sucker'.:p

It was a joke. Here is a definition of the word joke...

A joke is a short story or ironic depiction of a situation communicated with the intent of being humorous. These jokes will normally have a punchline that will end the sentence to make it humorous. A joke can also be a single phrase or statement that employs sarcasm. The word joke can also be used as a slang term for a person or thing which is not taken seriously by others in general. A practical joke or prank differs from a spoken one in that the major component of the humour is physical rather than verbal (for example placing salt in the sugar bowl).

Jokes are typically for the entertainment of friends and onlookers. The desired response is generally laughter; when this does not happen the joke is said to have "fallen flat".

there was also the linux bug that destroyed ethernet firmware of intel devices.

current specs:
foxconn rs233
1.6 atom
512mb ram

Yes, I have the same amount of RAM as you. I'm using 4 GB's of Ready Boost to help me along until I get more RAM.

I've been using Win7 on my tower since the public RC, and then the final release since it came out. Only gripe-sometimes after reboot, Win7 does not detect my ethernet port.

'twas a simple registry key issue, fix has been released. I suppose no linux user has ever gotten a black screen after an update. right ? ;)

Yup, one problem is all it takes to make the whole thing come crashing down. Shall we throw a Windows 7 failure party now?

I dont know about 32bit version, but 64bit version works very well, but having less than 2gb of RAM is really and issue. Windows 7 eats 1gb of RAM on idle, haha... Of course ubuntu only eats about 300mb of RAM maybe less maybe more with all efects on, and stuff like that...loving Karmic Koala =)

This happened to me. You have to disable powering down your NICS in the power saving adjustments.

Agreed, they don't deserve any!
That said though I did buy 7 with the student offer, and I'm glad I did.

i been looking all over for ram on sale, i only had a 512mb stick to use for readyboost.
things run fine though & the longer you leave it on, the memory use drops, i've seen mine drop to 50% yesterday, right now its at 70%, but i watched about 6 movies in a row.
i also went ahead & enabled some effects, cause it really didn't make much difference, with them off, might as well have the good stuff.

Having narrowed down a specific trigger for this condition we've done quite a bit of testing and re-testing on the recent Windows patches including KB976098 and KB915597 as referred to in our previous blog. Since more specifically narrowing down the cause we have been able to exonerate these patches from being a contributory factor.

We apologize to Microsoft for any inconvenience our blog may have caused.

wait - so it isn't big baaaaaad ol micwosawft's fault after all?

PrevX, an unknown entity in the PC security world, was wrong about its assertions?

Surely you jest :|

I'm just glad they wrote the retraction before the lawsuits began to fly.
