I've just re-install Ubuntu 9.04. All my fonts and tabs are TOO BIG. The bottom buttons are off the screen, etc. How do I shrink it all up to a reasonable size?

Thanks.

Just reboot. Sometimes Jaunty and Karmic start in 640 x 480. Reboot or yank the plug. It should start in your normal resolution.

System - preferences - appearance - fonts tab, details button, change resolution dpi to 72.

640 X 480 whats? How to I change this? I've rebooted a number of times and it hasn't changed things.

You need to increase your resolution, which depends on your video card drivers. Check System, Preferences, Display.

So bigger numbers? Or smaller numbers? What's usual setting?

Thanks.

I'm guessing you'd want at least 1024x768.

Thanks. I've been experimenting a bit. It always seems to go back to 640, whatever I change it too.

Which video card do you have? You want to be certain you're using the newest drivers, whatever it is.
