I have seen several posts concerning this issue, but none seem to solve my problem. I need to remove Firefox 3.5 and install Firefox 3.0 on my installation of Ubuntu 9.10. When I uninstall/install via apt it appears that 3.0 is tied to 3.5.

What is the process to completely remove 3.5 and have 3.0 loaded as in 9.04 and back?

Please limit responses to the solution and not why I should be using 3.5. I have a very specific requirement forcing me to use 3.0 and will not be able to entertain 3.5 as an option.

You don't need to remove 3.5 in order to install 3.0.

1) Search firefox 3.0 download for linux
2) Download the zip file and install it to a separate location on your system
3) If needed, change the symbolic link /usr/bin/firefox to 3.0 version
