Hey Guys!
I need some help!
I'm completely new to Ubuntu. I decided to install ubuntu in an old Packard Bell Istart 1360 which used to run Win XP SP2.
I downloaded with no problems the ISO image cd. The first time I booted the machine from the Cd, it installed the program with no problems ( I also used the option of checking the cd prompetd in the menu).
The fact is that the machine never started again! I went standby...
I used a DBAN cd to wipe out everything from my hard disk, and again install XP and then tried to run Ubuntu again to no avail.
I think it could probably be a problem with the motherboard since it has a Nvidia GeForce 6100 integrated, but as I said I am a beginner.

Can anyone help me with that?

Many thanks,

phillw

Hi

Try running the cd in 'don't alter my computer' mode - this quickly points to any issues ubuntu may be having with video / sound / network. Do make sure your BIOS is set to boot 1st from the cd-drive and not the hard-drive.

Regards,

Phill.

Don't know how much RAM this thing has but the alternate install CD might be a better choice
