So, I've installed ubuntu karmic on my p4 machine. Since I don't have internet at home, but I do at work, here are some noob questions.

1. If I remove my hardrive and insert it on a external USB casing and take it to my office, will I be able to boot from it as my office computer can boot from usb?

2. if it boots, will I be able to download software updates(not hardware driver updates)? or will i be able to download but not install so that I can take it back and install it on my original machine?

...please don't glaugh8-[

Thanks in advance
